Beechwood College marks World Autism Awareness Day
CARDIFF, Wales: Beechwood College will hold a special awareness-raising event to mark World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, 2009.
Please show your support for autism by joining the staff and students of Beechwood College at St David’s Shopping Centre, Cardiff on Thursday, April 2. Throughout the day, they will be celebrating some of the unique talents and skills of young autistic people and previewing a special animation produced in-house by Tim, one of the students at Beechwood College illustrating the impact that opportunities such as those on offer at Beechwood College can have in shaping the future of those with ASD.
Beechwood College is Wales’ first purpose-built residential college for young people aged 16-25 who have Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Asperger’s syndrome. Set in beautiful grounds in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, Beechwood College offers all the facilities and connections to the local community that young people could wish for. Beechwood is unique in its ability to offer not only specialist further education but appropriate care, nursing and therapeutic services provided by a multi-disciplinary team which consists of occupational therapy, psychology and speech and language therapy.
