New approach to autism and other developmental problems Marie (4 Aug 2007 15:04) Hi my name is Marie and I am a Reiki, Qi Master, Healer and iTtec therapist. Experienced, and highly Intuitive. I specialise in all types of brain conditions, especially children’s conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, brain injuries etc. I have had good success to date.
My therapy is a multi sensory therapy that incorporates intensive & extensive interactive play, art, music, and Qi healing; Therapy requires 8 hours weekly, carried out by therapist. No homework whatsoever for parents, unlike the ABA Therapy. Emphases are on naturally healing the mental, physical and spiritual body, and learning takes off as a byproduct of treatment.
At the moment, I can offer just three children treatment, either in NW3 or NW2. If anyone is interested, I am currently seeking nurses and other health professionals to train in my therapy. Handy-Healing@hotmail.co.uk. Mobile 0770 981 8714

Nonsense! Noel (4 Aug 2007 19:20) Surely, any therapy that leaves the parent of the equation has to be nonsense! What scientific data is there to support your claims? As a parent of an autistic child I find the suggestion that you can single-handedly and without the support and hard work of the child's parents improve a child's condition such as autism ridiculous and almost offensive. Regards, Noel

Totally not the case! marie (4 Aug 2007 20:08) Sorry Noel!!
You have taken what I said completely, the wrong way, I never intended that way. Parents are by no means out of the equation as you put it. Far from it, they have a very active role, but life isn’t as tough fitting in a lot of home therapy, as I know from experience. I had tried to keep the message short and not go in to detail, as from any written text, people are open to draw their own conclusions, even without knowing the finer details. It would have been far kinder to ask more questions before you attacked my personality. I have dedicated years working with adults and children to help establish a better quality of life and on call 24 hours, but being offensive, I am just not the type of person.

The world shall not perish Diana (4 Aug 2007 21:53) -not for lack of wonders, but for lack of wonder. J.BS. Haldane
Personally anyone that dedicates their life to healing others, are remarkable people, and often- it’s a thankless career. For you to write with such confidence, looking to train nurses, you must have produced the results. I have no doubt.
Marie, don’t take those comments seriously, all new approaches are shot down first, and you are standing on the shoulders of many such pioneers.
In Sandra Blakeslee and V.S Ramachandran book, Phantoms In The Brain, they said, “…even now amazing discoveries are staring at you all the time, right under your nose.……”
And the example they gave, “…..in recent decades medical students were taught that ulcers were caused by stress, which leads to excessive production of acid. And for years treatment was either antacids, histamine receptors blockers, vagotomy, (cutting the acid-secreting nerve that innervates the stomach) gastrectomy (removal of part of the stomach). But then a young resident physician in Australia, Dr Bill Marshall, notice that an ulcer under a microscope was teaming with helicobacter pylor – a common bacteria found in certain proportion of healthy people. He started to wonder could this also be a cause for ulcers. All his professors laughed at him and refused to even consider the possibility. First he carried out an epidemiological study which proved more than a strong correlation between the distribution of helicobacter species in patients and the incidence of duodenal ulcers. But this finding did not convince his colleagues. So out of sheer desperation Marshall swallowed a culture of the bacteria, did an endoscopy on himself a few weeks later and demonstrated that his gastrointestinal tract was studded with ulcers! He then conducted a formal clinical trial and should ulcer patients who were treated with antibiotics, bismuth and metronidazole recovered at a much higher rate- and fewer relapses- than the control group given acid-blacking agents alone.
It’s because of Dr Marshall many ulcers are cleared up with just antibiotics these days.
“V.S Ramachandran mentions this episode to emphasize that a single medical student or resident whose mind is open to new ideas and who works without sophisticated equipment can revolutionize the practice of medicine.”
Mainstream Science often lags so far behind from real discoveries that often instantly changes lives, without having to sell your home, just to get cured.
Science is not always-the whole truth!”

That's Life! Marie (6 Aug 2007 19:43) Hi Diana,
Thank you so much for your kindness, and for reminding me of Dr Marshall brilliant discovery, much appreciated.
Occasionally, actually once in so many years, I am subject to this kind of attack, but I gloss it over, it’s all part of living in a conditioned world. It’s part of natural progress. My only concern is for my clients. I really don’t care much if the majority of people do not believe in my work, because what they think is not relevant or reliant upon any outcome of therapy.
Resting upon the words of German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, I guess, I am on the right track.
He stated, that, “all truth goes through three steps;
Firstly, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed Finally, it is accepted as self-evident!”
I have a GP Doctor wanting to start a private alternative therapy practice with me; a clinical child psychologist who works at a London Hospital, planning to help get my work into mainstream medicine, and is all set to refer brain injured children that he cannot help. He is also pushing for my case notes to be published. So, whatever one would call my work, ‘nonsense,’ certainly wouldn’t be something those who know first hand, would use.
Blessings Marie
